Two men were sentenced for farm theft that occurred on Burma Road.

Shawn Ramnarine and Garvin Gill were convicted of stealing items totaling $3,760, which included an irrigation drip line, multiple pesticides, coconut seedlings, and hundreds of pounds of pawpaw.

The theft took place on March 5, with the victims’ own brother witnessing the criminal act in progress.

Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel delivered different sentences for the two defendants. Ramnarine, who had a previous history of larceny convictions, received an 18-month imprisonment term, while Gill was sentenced to 9 months.

In a subsequent development, Ramnarine faced additional charges for allegedly stealing a silver Toyota RAV4 valued at $10,000 on August 26, 2024.

For this new case, he was remanded in custody until June 18, while his co-defendant Kareem Jarvis was granted bail.
