Shawn Mussington is on trial for the murder of his ex-partner Simone Whyte-Barrington (file photo)
Murder accused Shawn Mussington offered a personal account of his relationship with Simone Whyte-Barrington during his trial on Wednesday, describing a complex and tumultuous connection while expressing sorrow for her death.
Standing in the accused’s box, Mussington painted a nuanced picture of their relationship, claiming he had been a loving partner despite experiencing verbal and physical abuse.
Mussington portrayed himself as a consistently kind individual who struggled within a challenging relationship.
He acknowledged killing Whyte-Barrington, a Jamaican hairdresser, during a gathering at the old Hitachi Centre building on November 14, 2020, while simultaneously describing himself as a victim of aggressive behaviour.
The defendant described maintaining humility throughout their relationship, even when he claimed she was aggressive toward him. His statement suggested a narrative of enduring challenging circumstances while attempting to maintain a healthy relationship.
The case continued before Justice Tunde Bakre on Thursday with closing arguments. The jury is expected to deliberate and return a verdict this week.
The option you chose to ignore? Just walk away! All choices have consequences. Many would attest to the accused charming and endearing personality
However, you imagine yourself ” a big man” be prepared to act accordingly. The deceased, I am told, had children in your age range!!!! She was therefore like a mother to you, a mother who eventually tried to snip the apron strings as mother’s often do with their own children. What made you think that murdering her was even an option!?? You opted to throw your life away. I hope it haunts you for the rest of your life. No sympathy for you!
JUSTICE FOR CHANTEL NOW!!!
I honestly believe the guy but that doesn’t mean he should kill her. Foreign women now a days is best left alone…go local or not at all
This one is hard for me since I had a really good friend who was allegedly poisoned by his Jamaican girlfriend but said woman never served a day in prison. Anyway…let justice take its course.
Maybe he didn’t intended to kill her but things boil over and nobody was there to separate or cool any of them down. Maybe he could have been the one died if he didnt get the upper hand. He said she was aggressive towards him. Who know maybe the bully lost and it all ended sad for him. That guy wasn’t a murderer he was a good guy but he should have learned his lesson and move on. Sometimes people’s behavior does put the weapon in your hand just walk away and i believe him wanting what he invested in to work was his demise.
Jail him already. All the court ever do is waste time
So if he acknowledged killing her why not just plead guilty to manslaughter? Just asking
