Illegal Vendors set up shop

The Ryan Group of Companies has issued a notice to illegal vendors operating on Nevis Street, giving them a deadline to vacate the premises by this Friday.

Paul Ryan, a representative of the group and a family owner of the property, described the structures set up by the vendors as “shacks” and expressed concern over their presence.

In an interview with Shermain Bique-Charles, Ryan shared that he visited the vendors over the weekend to convey the message personally.

However, rather than complying with the notice, the number of vendors has reportedly increased in the area, raising further issues regarding property rights and local regulations.

He tells Antigua.news that the situation remains tense as the deadline approaches, with the Ryan Group urging a resolution that respects the property’s legality while addressing the concerns of the vendors.

Local authorities may need to step in to enforce the order if compliance is not achieved by the set date.

The St. John’s Development Corporation should be disbanded forthwith if it has not yet been. They seem to be a group of Party faithfuls just draining the public purse. Fire the entire Board and get competent, a-political people to run things. St John’s is becoming more and more a dilapidated place!

I wish we had a clearer picture cause I have no idea where this is. But illegal vending is a huge problem in Antigua. Hope this gets resolved

Well finally we may restore some hope for the tourism sector. All leaning tents and these “shacks” that barely can hold themselves will be gone

As much as these places look untidy, every body is trying to make a dollar in this day and age where everything is high but income is low. But people like Ryan won’t care about that. They are a stingy set of people and nothing that exist their pockets hurt them. I mean, look at the multitudes of property they own in one island. They won’t be shaken up by any of it anyway. But yall try to make life hard for the people who are trying to make an extra dollars to feed themselves. WICKED SET A PEOPLE

The Ryan’s on a roll these days to push people out of their building. But to be honest the nastyness that the vendors are doing in the area is a sore eye. Some people are ridiculous also. I am sure the tourists are not even buying from their messy stalls. Why have them there anyway

Well done to the government. Let some of them go and look work and stop wasting time sitting down selling nothing of value.
