PM Browne advocates for local support of homegrown honey (Photo by Office of the Prime Minister)
This call to action was made during a honey-tasting event hosted by the Antigua and Barbuda Beekeepers’ Cooperative at the Prime Minister’s Office on Thursday.
During the event, Prime Minister Browne praised the unique flavors of locally harvested honey, describing it as “very tasty.”
He emphasized the importance of supporting local products and commended the Beekeepers’ Cooperative for their effective marketing efforts, especially highlighting the Antigua and Barbuda Wildflower Honey and the Barbuda Logwood Honey.
By encouraging the community to choose local honey, the Prime Minister aims to bolster the local economy and promote sustainable practices within the agriculture sector.
The event also served as a platform to raise awareness about the benefits of beekeeping and its contribution to biodiversity.
Residents are encouraged to explore these local honey options and support the hardworking beekeepers who play a vital role in maintaining the island’s ecological balance.
Let’s support local. That’s what Trump is doing and we should encourage more if that
Really good from these farmers. We do not understand the importance of bees. It’s really is an excellent idea from these farmers to come together under one banner.
This is what we love to see. Big up to our Prime Minister for encouraging everyone to support local and buy local honey, who knows it may just be the best in the Caribbean! Let’s keep it local, support our hardworking beekeepers, and boost our economy. Proud to be Antiguan, and proud of our products. #SupportLocal #AntiguanPride #LocalHoney
I don’t know about this one. This Prime Minister is always talking about supporting local, but the government doesn’t even try to make it easier for local businesses to thrive in the first place? We are tired of cheap words, we need real action. And let’s not forget about the challenges we face in other areas. While supporting local is important, it has to come with real and meaningful support from our government.
I’m all for supporting local, but there are bigger issues at hand here. Fix the economy, the roads, the schools first. Can’t drive without your mashing up. Students can’t get to complete exams cause teachers are sitting in. while supporting local, let’s fix our issues
Finally, someone putting local products in the spotlight. We’ve got some amazing honey here, and it’s time to show it off to the world. Thanks, Prime Minister for encouraging the citizens of Antigua to purchase these local honey. If we all work together we can build our economy and one another to a high level and standard. We can’t sit around and blame the government for our every downfall, Gaston and his administration can only do little and no more. We can help building by helping one another
Team work makes the dream work so stop blaming the government for everything and do your part. You don’t want to pay taxes but want the roads and infrastructure fixed. Well, it takes money for that. Just like some people in Antigua want to live in other people’s houses and not pay rent. Y’all want freebs but ana so e go! You gotta pay your way through life. Anyway, I hope to see a lot more like this honey business and more sustainable food related businesses. We cannot rely on anyone else to sustain us. We must do it ourselves.
To me our honey is the best tasting on the world let’s not put politics in everything and big up to the honey bee corporative keep on doing what you doing
Honey is big business now. Whenever I saw honey from.Dominica and other countries I wonder how on earth this could be so when we can produce our own honey
How and where is this brand available for us overseas who would like to support?
