For the second consecutive year, Deon Massiah of New Winthorpes has emerged victorious in the Jermaine Kentish birthday shootout, held this past Sunday. The tournament, sponsored by Senator Michael Freeland, featured a competitive field of golfers, but Massiah’s skill shone through as he clinched the top prize of five hundred EC dollars.

In the thrilling grand finale, Massiah faced off against Sylvester “Bouncing” Joseph. The match came down to the final hole, with Massiah securing a par 4, while Joseph recorded a bogey 5. Interestingly, it was Siyolo, Bouncing’s son, whom Massiah defeated in last year’s event, adding an extra layer of narrative to this year’s competition.

Joseph walked away with three hundred EC dollars for his second-place finish, while Omorry James secured third place and received two hundred EC dollars. A total of twenty-two golfers participated in this year’s tournament, showcasing impressive talent and determination.

In addition to the main event, James also triumphed in the Sunday morning kitty, winning three hundred and fifty dollars, while Paullus Martin pocketed one hundred and seventy. The day’s activities were made possible thanks to the generous sponsorship from Eighteen Plus One Restaurant and Mark Damian Fuller.

Golf enthusiasts can look forward to a second shootout planned for Tuesday, promising more excitement and competition in the days to come.
