Foreign Affairs Minister E.P. Chet Greene has extended heartfelt condolences to the family and colleagues of a Chinese national who tragically lost his life due to electrocution while working on the Booby Alley Project on Wednesday.

The incident occurred when the 52-year-old man and another worker were erecting a scaffold that inadvertently came into contact with high-tension wires.

While the deceased was pronounced dead, his colleague was hospitalized and is currently receiving medical care.

Minister Greene, who had a previously scheduled meeting with Ambassador Zhang Yanling, took the opportunity to express his deepest sympathies to both the government and people of China during this unfortunate incident.

He emphasized the importance of supporting the family during this difficult time and confirmed that arrangements are being made to notify the man’s family back in China.

The Booby Alley Project, a significant development initiative for the area, aims to revitalize a previously depressed part of Point.

This project symbolizes progress for the community and serves as a testament to the strong ties between Antigua and Barbuda and the People’s Republic of China.

In a separate discussion, Minister of Health Sir Molwyn Joseph also conveyed the tragic news to the Cabinet, sharing their collective sympathies with Ambassador Zhang.

The Cabinet remains committed to providing support in the wake of this saddening event.
