Antigua Among Awardees for Top Performance at Sagicor Annual Awards

Insurance giant Sagicor celebrated the excellence of top performers in its Eastern Caribbean and Belize markets at the 2024 Annual Awards ceremony held on Saturday, April 12, at Sandals Resort in Grenada.

The event, themed “Iconic – Excellence in Action,” was an inspiring occasion to honour the outstanding contributions of sales and administrative staff who went above and beyond in their roles throughout 2024.

Awards were handed out and team members from Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia and St Vincent and the Grenadines were recognized for their outstanding work.

Dierdre George, Senior Underwriter with the Antigua Branch of Sagicor General Insurance took home Contributor of the Year and Employee of the Year for SGI at Sagicor’s Annual Awards for the Eastern Caribbean and Belize. Here she is presented with her Employee of the Year Award by Robert Trestrail, President and CEO for Sagicor Life Inc.

In addition to recognizing top performers from Sagicor Life and Sagicor General, staff was also recognized from Sagicor Finance Inc which is based in St Lucia.

The prestigious awards recognized individuals for their exceptional performances across various categories as well as educational achievements and length of service.

This year, 38 team members were recognized for their long service to the company which is celebrating 145 years of business in 2025. Persons who have served the organization for 5 years up to 35 years were celebrated for their individual commitment with two team members: Maureen Lionel and Veronica Poleon from St Lucia crossing the stage for 35 years of service.

 

The major award winners include:

Sagicor Life

  • Contributor of the Year – Tanya Bermudez, Belize
  • Employee of the Year – Theresa Emmanuel, St. Lucia
  • Manager of the Year – Cherryl-Ann Boca, Grenada
  • Rookie of the Year – Shenia Frederick, Grenada
  • Top Advisor of the Year – Sonika McKie, Grenada

Sagicor General Insurance Inc

  • Contributor of the Year – Dierdre George, Antigua
  • Employee of the Year – Dierdre George, Antigua
  • Manager of the Year – Gemma Howell, Antigua
  • Rookie of the Year – Aliyah Rayne, Antigua

Sagicor Finance Inc

  • Manager of the Year – Jenne Theodore, St Lucia

Aliyah Rayne: Antigua swept the SGI awards this year with Aliyah Rayne, Client Support Representative Snagging Rookie of the Year for the business. She received her award from Shane Howell, Vice President, Employee Experience and Strategy from Sagicor.

These individuals were selected for their exceptional leadership, dedication, and performance, each contributing to the continued success and growth of Sagicor in the Eastern Caribbean and Belize.

Additionally, for the second time in three years, Sagicor Life Grenada under the sales stewardship of Berry James was awarded Unit of the Year and Agency of the Year for Annual Premium Income and Cases.

Sagicor Life St Kitts and Nevis took home General Agency, celebrating another straight year of success for Agency Manager, Denrick Connor.

In his remarks, Robert Trestrail, Group President and CEO of Sagicor Life Inc, congratulated the awardees for their hard work and commitment, stating, ” Our brand’s strength lies not just in financial results or product offerings, but in you — our people. Your actions, your values, and your tireless service form the foundation of our success. You are the icons of excellence, and your stories inspire others to follow.”

Paul Inniss, CEO Designate for Sagicor Life (Eastern Caribbean) Inc., also expressed his admiration for the awardees: “The passion and excellence demonstrated by our employees across the region is what sets Sagicor apart. These awards highlight the very best of what we stand for – a team that is driven by excellence, teamwork, and a shared commitment to service. Congratulations to all of our winners for their remarkable achievements.”

The ceremony was attended by Sagicor employees from across the region, along with senior management, who gathered to celebrate the significant accomplishments of their colleagues and reinforce the company’s values of excellence, integrity, and customer service.

Mark Prescott, Vice-President of Insurance Operations, Sagicor General Insurance Inc, congratulated the teams saying, “Our honourees have demonstrated outstanding performance in their respective roles. They have gone beyond policies and premiums to provide security, trust and hope. They have built meaningful connections with clients, empowered colleagues, and driven transformative change within our industry.”

    Some people don’t understand how to dress elegantly for formal occasions. Breasts and stomach exposed. How embarrassing. Next year I hope they issue guidelines and a dress code which they shouldn’t have to as these are adults. But it seems that some people don’t know the word “decorum”.
