Further plans are scheduled for the beautification of the city’s streets.
The Minister Responsible for Urban Development and St. John’s Development Corporation (SJDC) Rawdon Turner revealed on state media earlier today that the vendor relocation was just one phase of the project.
The other phases will see specialized parking being made for patrons.
45-minute parking permits are going to be instituted to allow for shopping within the market complex as well.
On Saturdays only, the Lower All Saints Road traffic, east of the VC Bird bust all the way up to Vivian Richards Street, will be closed off to foot traffic only until 12:00 noon.
Vendors will be permitted to sell their wares and produce on the sidewalks on Saturdays.

Well the truth is, everything is about money, so this was coming whether we like it or not
When Antiguans travel overseas, they follow the procedures there, so I don’t know what the fuss is if the government makes a change. We go on many walking-ups and downs to purchase what we want in foreign countries. We need to learn to adapt to changes. We are a tourist country and can’t have our tourists and ourselves bumping into cars, people, and vendors’ tents or stalls on the filthy market street. The streets and sidewalks need to be pressure washed from the filth.
