Minister of Social and Urban Transformation Rawdon Turner stated that, despite the pushback from the public and vendors regarding the new measures to be implemented in St. John’s, plans are in place to ensure no vendor will be displaced.
Speaking on Pointe FM, Turner mentioned that plans are underway to create purpose-built vendor kiosks in the area.
He indicated that this would involve breaking down a wall and removing chains while expressing confidence that the changes will be viable.
Why invest millions of dollars to construct a new structure for every day vendors when there is the vegetables market building not being utilize to it full capacity. Renovate inside and market and let the everyday vendors go inside to apply there trade.. There so much empty stalls inside the market that are not being utilize. The customers will go inside to buy once the vendors go inside.
Deluxe is a blackhole. Money will just go into it and disappear… into someone’s pocket
Like another commentary states, there’s already space allocated in the vegetable market for vendors so why waste money building more? Put that money toward something else.
