St. John’s, Antigua, May 6, 2025

Despite early morning rain, lots of persons participated and supported the CIBC Caribbean’s 4th Hike for the Cure last Saturday.

Hike for the Cure is one of a number of events leading up to the annual Walk for the Cure.

Natasha Charles, the Walk Manager, said that while the hike along Morris Bay was very challenging, it was lots of fun and the view was spectacular.

Khadijah James, one of the walk coordinators, was pleased with the turn-out. “We are happy that so many persons supported this Hike, in spite of the rain. We thank everyone for their encouragement and support,” she said.

Priscilla Leonce, the bank’s Corporate Manager, said that the hike serves three purposes.

“Obviously it helps to raise funds and awareness and creates the build-up to Walk for the Cure but it is also a healthy outdoor exercise in which cancer survivors, their children, other family members and friends and the general public all get together for a common cause.”

Meanwhile country head, Ladesa James-Williams noted that the aim this year is to break last year’s fundraising record of $105,000 and to continue to raise awareness of cancer and the terrible toll it takes on persons with the disease and their families.

“Last February, we made our largest donation to date of $105,000 to the Breast Friends Organisation and the SLBMC ‘s Oncology Department, which were funds raised from the 2024 Walk for the Cure. This year we hope and intend to break that record. We can only do so with the support of our sponsors and the public,” she added.

The next fundraising event will be Jam for the Cure T-Shirt Mas on Saturday 26th July. Registration is now open at the bank on Old Parham Road.

The 14th Annual CIBC Caribbean Walk for the Cure Will be held on 11th October 2025.
