Two men have been scheduled to appear before the September Assizes after facing a series of illegal firearms charges.
The decision was made during their appearance in the Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, where both individuals were called to respond to various gun-related allegations, including charges of shooting with intent.
The first defendant, Reuben Forde from Upper Gambles, was charged with unlawfully and maliciously shooting Dwayne DeSilver on March 24, 2024, along Lower All Saints Road.
He faces several charges, including discharging a firearm in a public space, contrary to the Firearms Act, as well as illegal possession of a Bryco Jennings T .380 pistol without the requisite firearm license.
Additionally, on that same day, he was allegedly found in possession of a Brown and Brass Colt 1851 Navy .36 revolver unlawfully. Forde is also charged with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm on DeSilver.
On the other hand, Landre Williams from Villa appeared in court to address charges related to an incident that occurred on September 11, 2024, at Hans Street.
The police claim that Williams was found in possession of a modified flare gun without a firearm user license, which violates the Firearms Act of Antigua and Barbuda.
He is also charged with unlawfully and maliciously wounding Zahvante Hill with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm and for allegedly shooting Hill with the intent to murder.
Furthermore, an additional charge of possessing a .32 round of ammunition without the proper license has been filed against him.
Both defendants have had their cases referred to the High Court for the September 2025 Criminal Assizes.
I don’t know what is the meaning of Criminal Assizes but whatever it is, I hope they are being sent to jail. One way or the other we have to get rid of the criminals
