  2. Power corrupts they sat…..and absolute power corrupts absolutely. So our children were deprived of their education for over one week over teachers’ concerns for their a) travel b) allowances for “teachers” of Technical/vocational subjects; c) ex gratia (whatever that means) payments to teachers 2018 to 2024.
Now, apply whatever semblance of conscience you may have, christian or otherwise, and try to justify this week-long denial of invaluable teaching time to our children. I hope that KARMA follows each and every supporter of this injustice perpetrated on the least privileged among us. The teachers are paid well enough to enrol their pickaninnies in private schools, so they just don’t give a damn!

  3. Just because a person chooses to enrol their child in private school for whatever reason doesn’t mean they are paid well. They might be sacrificing in other areas. Thank God for both public and private schools to serve the needs of diverse children. Private school teachers go on strike sometimes too. Children missing one week of public school is not the end of the world. The teachers can use various strategies to catch the children up. It’s sad that they were forced to resort to sit in to get what was owing to them. Why can’t adults just negotiate calmly and then stick to their agreements in good faith without the need for all of this. If the government can’t develop a system for paying allowances etc. regularly then perhaps they should just cancel all allowances and just increase the relevant salaries a little and pay monthly through the treasury as usual. Why do people who already get paid more than everyone else (Heads of Departments, politicians etc.) need extra allowances anyway?
