Parliamentary Representative for St. George, Algernon Watts, has been evicted from his constituency office in Potters due to unpaid rent. Documents reveal that Watts accrued a staggering $12,000 in rent arrears dating back to August 2024.
According to the letter, despite multiple reminders from the landlord, Watts reportedly failed to address the outstanding payments, leading to the unfortunate decision to evict him.
It is alleged that Watts receives allowances to operate the office in Potters.
Watts is a manager at NewsCo and is also involved in organizing the popular Big People Party event.
Interestingly, during the time of his eviction, local educator Ms. Jasmine Henry had been utilizing part of Watts’ office for an after-school program, paying $800 monthly for the space.
Calls to reach Watts went unanswered.
The building that housed Watts’ office has now been leased to the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) Caretaker for St. George, starting June 1, 2025.
Now this is what you call politrix lol.
It is not a shame people get evicted everyday just the other day Gaston/government workers were locked out by Ryan and they are in charge of the country and don’t have money to pay.
So it is ok that the opposition get locked out too that doesn’t have the money as the ruling party has. Well well well
So to be clear, the opposition MP was profiting from the after-school program and was given money to pay the rent but chose not to. Community leaders doing this kind of crap and you wonder why some people like to live in other people’s property and don’t want to pay for the privilege. Such a damn shame and disgrace.
Look drama
Drama look yah!
Its not unusual people leave places OR get thrown out or kicked out. I am sure he has somewhere else to go. After all this is Serpyyyyyyy. Lots of homes, lots of cars…Cant keep a good man down
You’ve gotta be kidding!!!! What contempt!!! And he and his party think that he is fit for service as an MP in Antigua and Barbuda!!!!! What a loser! First, his stint as a farmer, having been granted acrea upon acres of prime agricultural land by the UPP only to have it lie fallow with ONE papaya tree to show for his “efforts”. And now this???? But wait!!!! Isn’t he the seemingly successful proprietor of the recently opened bar in Piggotts?? (The Landing Strip or some nonsense like that?)
Lord, save Atigua and Barbuda from these low “lifes”!!!!!
The ABLP government could not pay Mr Ryan the rent owed. Isn’t the ABLP still in power and running the country? Are you saying that the ABLP is fit to run but not the UPP because they to are not paying their rent on time? To me, there is no difference here. Same situation but different landlord and tenant.
Let’s not be distracted from the fact that Gaston owes the ryan group more in inpaid rents. Turn things political when you have a clean sheet to present. Antigua Surf Outsideeee
A what kind of pepperpot is this? And you were subleasing a part of the building to someone and collecting 800 per month? To me dat is wutlisness to the fullist
