The Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Services says a flash flood watch now in effect will shortly be upgraded to a flash flood warning.
The warning will be in effect until 2am Sunday, May 18. The Met Office says upwards of two inches of rainfall has already been recorded over parts of Antigua and Barbuda, and another two inches are likely.
Residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas are advised to be prepared to move to higher ground.
The Met Office says the increased rainfall is being produced by a trough in the North Eastern Caribbean.
