The Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Services has issued a flash flood warning for the twin-island state, in effect until 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 18.
According to the Met Office, upwards of two inches of rainfall have already been recorded in several areas, with an additional two inches expected in the coming hours.
The heavy rainfall is being attributed to a trough system currently affecting the northeastern Caribbean.
Residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas, are urged to take precautionary measures and prepare to move to higher ground if necessary.
Flash flood warnings have also been issued for Montserrat and St. Kitts and Nevis, as the weather system continues to affect the region.
Authorities are advising the public to stay tuned to official updates and avoid unnecessary travel in affected areas.
Lord thank you for the rain
