Following the success of hosting the Caribbean Travel Market Place, Antigua and Barbuda will once again host a major event.
In July, the country will welcome law enforcement from around the region for the Caribbean Law Enforcement Leaders’ Cybersecurity Symposium.
The July 8-9 event will be hosted by the American Registry for Internet Numbers (ARIN) and the Caribbean Agency for Justice Solutions (CAJS) in collaboration with the Government of Antigua and Barbuda.
It will again enhance cross-jurisdictional cooperation and information sharing, provide expert analysis of emerging cybercrime trends and investigative responses and facilitate direct dialogue between law enforcement, policy makers, regional registries, and judicial stakeholders.
Attorney General Steadroy Benjamin made the proposal for hosting after received the request from ARIN and CAJS.
It was approved by Cabinet.
Director General of Communications and Acting Press Secretary Maurice Merchant explained the reasoning behind the approval.
“So, the Cabinet viewed this conference as being significant, and Antigua and Barbuda has the capacity to host and so it was agreed upon to partner with these two agencies in hosting the conference here, the symposium here in Antigua and Barbuda for those two days.
“It’s expected to be a large conference and very significant in these times when we think of the emergence of AI-related crimes, the cyber crimes and so forth,” Merchant added.
Anrigua and barbuda is becoming the hub for hosting major events. Visionary leader. Gaston to the world
Right now we ob a role let’s just continue to capitalize on that.
We have the capacity and capability
It’s great to see Antigua stepping up in the cyber space. We’ve been too quiet on this front for too long. AI-related crime is real and growing fast.
Do we get to attend? Would love to hear what steps small businesses should take to protect themselves.
Another win for Antigua and Barbuda. First SIDS, then CIP, the Market Place…Soon OAS. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
This is really really really good for us. Well done to thr GB Admin!
