Police have arrested and jointly charged two men in connection with a major drug seizure at the Deep Water Harbour earlier this month.

Police have arrested and jointly charged two men in connection with a major drug seizure at the Deep Water Harbour earlier this month.

Nadeem Brandon Doumith of Crosbies and Francis Young of Hodges Bay were formally charged for the following drug-related offences:

1. Possession of 62 pounds of cannabis

2. Possession of cannabis with intent to transfer

3. Importation of cannabis

4. Being concerned in the supply of cannabis

5. Conspiracy to commit drug trafficking

The charges stem from a joint drug operation conducted by the Narcotics Department and the Customs Officials on Thursday, May 9 at the Deep Water Harbour.

During the operation, law enforcement officials searched a brown E-container cardboard box at the Cargo Shed and discovered a total of sixty-two (62) vacuum-sealed packages of the controlled drug cannabis.

Cannabis Seized at Deep Water Harbour

The packages were weighed and amounted to sixty-two (62) pounds, with an estimated street value of $372,000. They are expected to appear in court on Tuesday.

Law enforcement authorities remain committed to curbing the illegal importation and distribution of controlled substances and is urging the public to report any suspicious activities by contacting the Narcotics Department at 462-5150 or Crime Stoppers at 800-TIPS (8477).
