GUYANA: Body of Adriana Younge Transported to US for Second Autopsy

The Guyana Police Force has confirmed that the tragic death of 11-year-old Adriana Younge was the result of drowning, as revealed by the final post-mortem report from three international pathologists.

Officers have stated there were no signs of foul play involved in the case, which has raised some concerns within the community and among her family.

Younge was discovered deceased in the swimming pool at the Double Day International Hotel on April 24, 2025. According to the findings, the pathologists determined that she likely sank to the bottom of the pool and later resurfaced, a phenomenon attributed to natural decomposition processes that can occur in warm, tropical climates.

Despite the official ruling on the cause of death, Younge’s family has expressed persistent doubts regarding the initial examination and plans to pursue a second autopsy in the United States. To facilitate this, Adriana’s body was transported to the U.S. on Monday.

“We just want to understand what truly happened that day,” said a family representative.
