Deadline Approaching for Teams to Register for Antigua Cup

As plans for the second edition of The Antigua Cup International Youth Football Tournament progress, clubs and teams from both Antigua and overseas are reminded that the registration deadline is fast approaching.

Teams wishing to participate in the tournament, scheduled from July 6-13, 2025, and the Player Development Camp, scheduled from July 14-18, must indicate their interest by Saturday, May 31, 2025. Both events will take place at Buckley’s Primary School Playing Field.

The tournament, organized by the Young Warriors Football Club (YWFC), is open to both boys’ and girls’ teams across various age groups: U10, U13, U15, and U17. So far, teams from Trinidad, Barbados, St. Lucia, and Dominica, along with several local clubs eager to compete, have shown interest.

In an exciting addition to this year’s activities, the Big Bands & Artists Showdown, an end-of-tournament fundraising concert, is scheduled for July 12 at the Environmental Division grounds. This event aims to bring together the community while supporting the tournament’s mission to foster grassroots development.

The primary goal of the Antigua Cup is to provide a strong foundation for young athletes, enhancing their skills, discipline, and sportsmanship. Additionally, the Young Warriors have long been a vital community partner, advocating for educational opportunities and scholarships for boys and girls, both locally and internationally.

Beyond enhancing sporting talent, the tournament emphasizes the significance of education and character development. Participating youth will engage in community outreach initiatives and educational workshops, promoting responsible and motivated young adults.

YWFC primarily relies on community-driven fundraisers and contributions to support these initiatives.

Organizing an international event of this scale is a significant endeavor, prompting YWFC to seek generous partnerships within the corporate community.

This collaboration aims to make this impactful initiative accessible to children from underserved communities and single-parent households, who might not otherwise have such opportunities.

Additionally, business, government, and social leaders are invited to engage with the youth during Player Development Seminars, where they will share insights on education, health, and lifestyle topics.

These interactions aim to inspire players to dream bigger and envision themselves in future leadership roles.

With the deadline approaching, teams are encouraged to seize the opportunity to register for an event that promises not just sporting growth but a chance to cultivate a brighter future.
