Woods Pond, a long-standing hub for fresh, local produce in Antigua is set to receive a major facelift under a new government initiative aimed at supporting local vendors and enhancing the food marketplace.
Minister of Social and Urban Transformation, Rawdon Turner made this statement in a social media post, noting that the “Vendor Intervention Project,” as it’s being called, is designed to upgrade the area where hardworking fruit and vegetable vendors make their daily living.
“For years, Woods Pond has been a hub for fresh, local produce; now, it’s time to give it the structure, cleanliness, and support it deserves.” Minister Turner Wrote.
Turner noted that this upgrade is not just about aesthetics, but more so about supporting the people who feed our nation, preserving livelihoods, and encouraging healthy, local eating.
“We’re building with vendors in mind and with community at heart. Let’s grow something great at Woods Pond.” Turner Wrote
The initiative will be carried out in consultation with vendors and community members, and feedback is being welcomed as the plan moves forward.
Turner is the change Antigua needed all along. He has come along and making Antigua cleaner in all ways. Waiting to see the end of this initiative
Just in time for elections, huh? Classic playbook, fix things that should’ve been fixed years ago
Give credit where it’s due. At least the ABLP is investing in vendors, something the UPP talked about but never delivered.
Nothing wrong in having a classy vision. Something is wrong when you cannot see your vision is making people uncomfortable
Nice! A park type setting around the bond will be good too. Let’s see if it actually happens.
I like the new look. Its like a replica of what Turner did in Parham
Let’s go!!!
So what happened to the vendors in town? Why weren’t they given this. You just shoved them in the smelly market. What is your motive Mr Minister
Good move Turner. You perfect for this ministry.
Turner ah work boss!
I’m thinking of congestion in that area
Any parking for patron?
