As the government continues to tackle health care in Antigua and Barbuda, several developments and initiatives will be undertaken to improve the sector.
Plans are in the works to construct a new polyclinic in Jennings, transition the Clare Hall clinic into a polyclinic and upgrade of the Old Road Clinic – all aimed at improving healthcare delivery across Antigua and Barbuda.
Director General of Communications in the Prime Minister’s Office Maurice Merchant gave further in sight on the project.
“There are at least a dozen clinics that are on the cards for upgrades and some of them are on the cards for repairs. It is a program that is being collaborated between the Department of the Environment through its CIRF Fund, whereby a number of modern technologies are going to be utilized in the repairs of these clinics.
“You would have noted, I think it was last week, we mentioned that the DOE will be utilizing new material for the repairs of roofing. Clinics have been designated as one of the first starting points for these repairs.
Merchant further explained that because of the adequate space available the Clare Hall Clinic was selected to undergo the major transformation.
“There is also a pharmacy on the property and so that clinic is ripe for expansion into a polyclinic to better serve the community of Clare Hall, Cassada Gardens and surrounding communities,” he added.
The construction and upgrading of clinics across the nation has been a major topic for some years.
Government has over the time, been addressing this concern with the construction of the Villa and Glanvilles Polyclinics and the revitalization of other community clinics.
While several still need repairs, with this ongoing focus, this major issue may soon be resolved.
you need to get these clinics going …remember Lionel I’d not well
Bendals Clinic needs to be expanded to meet the growing needs of that community!
Building and upgrading clinics is exactly what we need, better healthcare starts with strong primary care.
The focus on healthcare infrastructure across the island is essential. Too many clinics have been neglected for years, and this program to repair and upgrade them using innovative materials could be a game changer. Polyclinics are key to delivering more comprehensive care closer to home, and the expansion of Clare Hall Clinic fits that need perfectly. The success of Villa and Glanvilles Polyclinics sets a good precedent, but it will require sustained investment and management to ensure all these projects meet community expectations.
a real major undertaking for a government that has been so don’t give a damn ..let’s see if you can pull it off
This is good news. Some of these clinics are really runned down and need a facelift.
A government at work. Fullstops!
And whoever maintains the Vila polyclinic get them to maintain the other clinics cause that person doing a damn good job
