Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ramps Up Awareness Campaign in Schools Across the Nation

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has ramped up its national school outreach campaign aimed at educating young people on the importance of diplomacy and regional cooperation. The initiative kicked off two weeks ago at Christian Union Preschool and Junior Academy and concluded on Wednesday, 19 June.

Participating schools included:

Antigua Girls’ High School
Clare Hall Secondary
Adele School for Special Needs
Liberta Primary
All Saints Secondary
Antigua Grammar School
Five Islands Primary
Due to ongoing examinations, the Ministry was unable to visit all of the schools originally scheduled to be part of the tour.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. E.P. Chet Greene, announced an exciting addition to the initiative: one outstanding student from the tour will be selected to represent their school and attend the 55th Regular Session of the OAS General Assembly as a special guest of the Minister.

Briana Anthony, Public Relations Officer at the Ministry, explained the purpose of the initiative:
“We are on a mission. We’re going into schools to educate students about the Organization of American States (OAS), the importance of the 55th Regular Session of the OAS General Assembly, and how young people can ultimately use their voices to influence meaningful change.”

Jmoul Francis – Legal Officer
Darilyn Burton – Barbuda Liaison Officer

Minister Greene emphasized that the initiative provides students with a “first-hand look at international diplomacy and how regional decisions directly affect their futures.”
