A Parham man walked out of court Wednesday after obtaining $8,000 bail on charges that he stole thousands of dollars worth of equipment from his workplace.

Damien Francis, employed at Galley Bay Resort and Spa, entered a not guilty plea before Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel to allegations he took an air conditioning unit worth $3,000 and a Samsung television valued at over $3,000 from the resort property.

The self-represented defendant now faces strict conditions while awaiting trial. Francis must check in with Parham Police Station three times weekly and has been forced to surrender his passport.

The bail arrangement requires Francis to pay $2,000 in cash upfront.

The case now enters a lengthy waiting period, with proceedings scheduled to resume on November 6.
