The Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Services has issued an air quality bulletin warning of moderate pollution levels expected to continue from this afternoon through Monday.

The air quality category has been classified as moderate, with an air quality index ranging from 51 to 80 and an Air Pollution Alert Level of II. The deteriorating conditions are attributed to particulate matters 2.5 and 10, associated with the ninth notable surge in Saharan Dust affecting the country for 2025.

According to meteorologists, while the health risk remains low for most people, unusually sensitive individuals such as asthmatics should be aware of potentially poor air quality and stay informed about the latest forecasts.

People with respiratory or heart disease, the elderly, and children are considered the groups most at risk during these conditions. The Meteorological Services advises that while air quality is acceptable for most, there may be moderate health concerns for a very small number of people who are unusually sensitive to air pollution.

As a precautionary measure, active children and adults, along with people suffering from respiratory diseases such as asthma, are advised to limit prolonged outdoor activities during this period.
