Police charge suspect with possession of firearms & ammunition

The police are intensifying their efforts to tackle the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition nationwide. Recently, 25-year-old Emerson Alexander from Villa was arrested and charged with possessing a .380 pistol along with six rounds of matching ammunition.

In another case, Kieron Philip from Ottos was taken into custody and charged with the unlawful possession of 50 grams of cannabis.

Both arrests occurred during a series of stop-and-search operations carried out by the authorities on Tuesday, July 8th. These operations are part of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda’s ongoing initiative to combat the distribution of illegal firearms, ammunition, and drugs on the streets.

The Police Administration is urging community members to actively participate in crime prevention efforts by cooperating with law enforcement and providing any relevant information that could assist ongoing investigations.

  6. Glad they’re making arrests, but stop-and-search should apply across the board. No exemptions, rich or poor.
