Jai’Lilah Wins Inaugural Kiddies Fete Talent Show

Thirteen-year-old Empress Buchanan, performing under the stage name Jai’Lilah, made history on Sunday by becoming the first champion of the inaugural Aunty Claudette’s Kiddies Fete Talent Show.

The young Antiguan calypsonian and soca artist has already established herself as a formidable force in the local music scene, with an impressive track record in youth competitions across the island.

Jai’Lilah’s victory at the Kiddies Fete adds to her growing list of accomplishments in Antigua’s vibrant carnival culture. Her success spans both calypso and soca genres, demonstrating her versatility as a young performer.

In 2024, she achieved a remarkable double victory at the ACB Junior Soca Monarch competition, capturing both the Jumpy Soca crown and first place in the Groovy Soca category. This followed her 2023 triumph when she won the Groovy Soca title in the same competition.

The inaugural Aunty Claudette’s Kiddies Fete Talent Show represents a new platform for young performers to showcase their abilities, and Jai’Lilah’s victory sets a high standard for future competitions.

Kiddies Fete is a high-energy celebration of young talent, music, and island pride put on by local soca star Claudette Peters.
