60,000 dollars worth of cannabis seized at Deep Water Harbour

A joint operation by Police and Customs resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of cannabis at Deep Water Harbour on July 16, 2025.

Law enforcement agencies searched the primary seaport, finding a barrel with nineteen vacuum-sealed packages of cannabis, in packaged weighing about 7½ pounds. The packages were said to have an an estimated street value of EC $60,000.

They were confiscated and taken to police headquarters, where investigations are ongoing.

As the Royal Police Force continues to strategically detect and prevent the illegal importation of controlled substances, they welcome collaboration with all entities, local and regional. 

Anyone with information related to drug trafficking or other criminal activities is encouraged to contact the Narcotics Department at 462-5150 or call Crime Stoppers at 800-TIPS (8477). All reports are strictly confidential.

  1. While it’s good to see this seizure, it also highlights that illegal drug trafficking, even of cannabis, is still a very real issue. $60,000 is a substantial amount. This indicates the need for continued vigilance at our ports and stronger enforcement to deter these activities. We need to cut off these supply lines.
