Work is continuing in the establishment of the Chantel Alert System.

Cabinet Spokesperson Maurice Merchant gave an update during today’s Post Cabinet Press Briefing.

Cabinet accepted the proposal for the emergency message sending system to notify the public when persons go missing back in March of this year.

This initiative draws inspiration from the United States’ Amber Alert system, which has proven effective in quickly disseminating information to the public when a child is in imminent danger.

Senator Michael Joseph made the recommendation for its establishment in light of the tragic abduction and murder of nine-year-old Grays Green resident Chantel Crump.

Crump’s lifeless body was found in some bushes on the Weatherills Estate leaving the nation in a state of shock and grief.

  1. Where is Cabinet’s update on the stalled investigation into the death of Chantel Crump? Your token offerings are an insult in light of the current status of the police investigation into Chantel’s murder and the official silence which accompany this update! JUSTICE FOR CHANTEL CRUMP NOW!

  3. While the idea of a ‘Chantel Alert System’ is commendable, especially for child safety, the real question is how effectively it will be implemented and maintained. We need more than just an announcement; we need a fully functional system that can actually mobilize the public when a child goes missing.

  4. We still demand justice for Chantel. But we need to get this out before anyone else becomes like this.
