
Police report that they have charged 18-year-old Dashane Whyte in connection with the murder of 50-year-old Steve Chambers. Both Whyte and Chambers were residents of Brownes Avenue, where the incident took place.
According to police, Chambers and Whyte are said to have engaged in a dispute on Sunday evening; an incident that escalated into a physical altercation, both men arming themselves with weapons.
Chambers suffered numerous stab wounds to his body and was subsequently transported to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre. He later died from these injuries and was pronounced dead at approximately 8:18 a.m. on Monday, July 28.
Whyte was charged with the offence and was taken into custody after he also received medical treatment for injuries he sustained during the incident.
He will appear in the Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
