  1. Too much of our youth (especially our teens) are hanging out on the block with grown men who are old enough to be their fathers. These grown men are bad influence on these youths. You’re seeing it all across the island, especially in hot spot communities areas where drugs and alcohol are being consumed.
The young cricketer had a good future in his cricket career now’s varnished. I am wondering what had caused this altercation that took his life.

  3. Mr Commissioner, while we are on the topic of youth violence, is one aged SINBAD a person of interest in the brutal murder of nine-year old Chantel Crump as alleged?

  4. The Commissioner’s statement aligns with the concerns of organizations like CARICOM and the UN, who have long identified youth violence as a major challenge in the region. This is a regional problem that requires both local and regional solutions.

  7. Parents need to parent their children from birth until they leave the nest and stop being their friend. What you say goes and mean it. These children think they are their parents sex and size and have no respect…not for themselves, for their parents nor for their community. Parents need to monitor who their children associate with. Parents need to provide for their children’s basic needs so they don’t have to go look elsewhere to fulfill them and in doing so used in criminality. Male parents need to stop chasing cat and parent their children especially their sons because theirs only one thing a woman can’t do and that’s teach a boy how to be a man….that’s dad’s job. Mom’s it’s OK to want to look good but not at the cost of having your children damn near starving or without adequate clothing and shelter while you look like Miss America in these streets. The government needs to offer support to parents in the form of parenting skills, counseling for them and their children and myriad other ways. Young teens should not be hanging in the streets with older people because the latter, in most cases, have negative impacts on the former. When all else fails, harsh punishments must be given as adeterrent. In the end charity begins at home and spreads itself abroad…so parents do your job before the streets or the police does it for you.
