Toriano ‘Onyan’ Edwards, the lead member of the renowned Burning Flames band, expressed immense pride following the recent recognition of their contributions to Antigua and Barbuda’s music and culture.
The Potters Main Road has been officially renamed the Burning Flames Highway, honoring the band’s 40 years of influence. This announcement was made by Prime Minister Gaston Browne, who stated that the renaming would take effect immediately.
During the Party Monarch competition, the Minister of Creative Industries, Daryll Matthew, presented the band members—Toriano, Clarence ‘Oungku’ and David ‘Crocus’ Edwards, along with nephew Rhone ‘Foxx’ Watkins—with a citation marking this significant milestone.
Toriano emphasized the importance of community support in their journey and stated that the honorary naming of the highway would preserve their legacy for future generations.

Congratulations
Congratulations to Burning Flames and the Edwards family. Well deserved recognition and the perquisites that comes with it. This was long overdue. Burning Flanes has market Antigua and Barbuda well wherever they travel. They’re the true sons of the soil.
Long overdue! Burning Flames put Antigua on the map. Big up to the whole crew!
My childhood was full of Burning Flames music blasting from every corner. This tribute hits home.
