Senator Lamin Newton

Government Senator Lamin Newton is commending Creative Industries Minister Matthew and his Junior Minister Senator Govia, along with their dedicated team, for what he said is an outstanding execution of this year’s Carnival.

Newton expressed that Carnival 2025 was an unforgettable experience that would leave lasting memories for all who participated.

Highlighting the exceptional quality of music provided by entertainers, Senator Newton encouraged artists to maintain this high standard in future events. “The material put out by the entertainers was simply exceptional,” he remarked.

The senator noted that the organization of carnival shows was flawless, a testament to the hard work and planning that went into this year’s celebrations. As the festivities coincided with the 40th anniversary of the legendary band Burning Flames, Newton emphasized their remarkable contributions to the carnival scene, suggesting that they have rightfully earned the distinction of being knighted as National Heroes.

He praised the band’s electrifying performance at ARG Grounds, stating, “Their performance is one we longed for, and they truly delivered.”

In his remarks, Newton also highlighted the continuous improvement demonstrated by the masquerade bands each year. He was particularly impressed by their organization and the vibrant displays of color throughout the various sections of the parade.

Another noteworthy aspect of Carnival 2025 was the significant presence of police and defense force personnel, which contributed to a secure environment for all attendees. This enhanced safety allowed revelers to fully enjoy the festivities without fear.

Newton urged Minister Matthew and his team to take pride in their achievements.

“Wear this year’s celebrations as a badge of honor on your shoulders. This was by far one of the best carnival celebrations we have ever experienced,” he concluded.

  1. How is this news? How is this not just political? How is this not Shermain seeking to futuer the political ambition of a friend. Mr Newton has no standing or expertise on the subject; this his comments on the matter carries no weight. How about getting someone who has some experience on the matter to comment i.e. past minister or chair of carnival. Or do a poll or something of substance.
