The much-anticipated ANUCON 2025 costume convention will now take place on Saturday, August 23, after organizers postponed this weekend’s event due to the looming threat of Tropical Storm Erin, which forecasters warn could strengthen into a hurricane by the weekend.

“The safety and well-being of our attendees, vendors, staff, and volunteers is our highest priority,” said Mario Wade, co-chair of ANUCON. “This was a difficult decision, but given the storm’s projected path, it was the responsible one.”

The annual convention is a highlight for regional cosplay fans, makers, and pop culture enthusiasts, offering competitions, workshops, vendor exhibits, and opportunities for fans to showcase elaborate costumes.

Meteorologists expect the storm to bring hazardous conditions during the original event dates, prompting organizers to move the celebration to later in the month while keeping the same venue and program lineup intact.

All tickets purchased for the original dates will be honored on August 23. Attendees unable to attend can request refunds by contacting [email protected], with full details to be posted on ANUCON’s social media platforms.

Organizers confirmed that vendors and special guests remain committed to the new date, with any lineup changes to be announced via official channels.
