The date has been set for Jamaica’s general elections on September 3 and a representative from the Antigua Barbuda Electoral Commission (ABEC) will be apart of that event.
Antigua and Barbuda’s Supervisor of Elections, Ian Hughes, led a Caribbean Community (Caricom) Observer mission to the April 28 general elections in Trinidad and Tobago.

It is not clear in what capacity or whom that official will be that will travel to Jamaica.
ABEC will be busy assisting around the region and will also be partaking in various training sessions to improve their daily operations.
“We have Jamaica, we have Guyana, somebody from the Antigua Barbuda Electoral Commission will be representing us in Guyana as part of the observer mission. Additionally, as well, we will be having individuals traveling to Panama for special meetings there for persons representing the Antigua Barbuda Electoral Commission and commissions overall as well.
“So, we continue to find and seek opportunities to expand our reach, to expand and enhance our human resource capabilities, and overall to make us a more competitive as well as marketable electoral commission in the Caribbean as well as over in the world as well,” ABEC Public Relations Officer Elisa Graham explained.

I’m hopeful that our team will bring back valuable insights and best practices that can further strengthen our own electoral system here in Antigua and Barbuda.
Regional cooperation like this is how we keep elections fair and transparent.
This is a smart move for ABEC. Election observation across the region strengthens democracy everywhere.
How do i qualify to be part of a mission?
This is a serious question, would be happy if someone could respond to my comment
good to see our guys on the international stage
Great that members of ABEC can be trusted in such major elections
