Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Services has issued an Air Quality Alert for Antigua and Barbuda due to a surge in Saharan Dust. According to the Met Office, this is the 18th notable Saharan dust surge that has affected the country in 2025.
This alert in effect until Thursday.
The air quality index is 51 to 80, while the air pollution alert is at a Level II.
According to the Met Office, the groups that are the most at risk are people with respiratory issues, heart disease, the elderly, and children.
The Met Office advises that active adults and children, especially children with asthma and other respiratory diseases should limit their outdoor exertion.





The fact that our small islands face this shows how global environmental issues reach us too.
