The Caribbean Union of Teachers has elected Sharon Clifton Kelsick as its new president, marking only the second time in the organization’s history that a woman has ascended to this regional leadership position.
Kelsick, who was born in Castle Bruce, Dominica, brings extensive experience in Caribbean education to her new role.
She currently holds multiple significant positions within Antigua’s educational landscape, serving as Deputy Principal at Princess Margaret School and General Secretary of the Antigua Union of Teachers.
Her educational leadership extends beyond the classroom. As Chief Executive Officer of the Antigua and Barbuda National Accreditation Board, Kelsick has been instrumental in maintaining educational standards across the twin-island nation.

Only the second woman ever? Shows how far we still have to go, but this is a powerful step forward.
Proud moment for Dominica and Antigua. She has worked hard and deserves this.
Congrats to her on this accomplishment. I know she will do well.
Dominican to the bone!!! Congratulations are in order.
Congratulations honey. You deserve all this and more.
Big congratulations! Great to see Antigua and Barbuda represented at the highest level in regional education.
