Saint Lucia handed Antigua and Barbuda their first defeat of the 5th ECCB International Netball Series last night at the Tanteen Netball Court in St. George’s, Grenada, winning 45-33 in a closely contested match that ended Antigua and Barbuda’s perfect tournament record.
The loss marks a significant shift in momentum for Antigua and Barbuda, who had entered the match as one of the tournament’s strongest contenders after three dominant victories to open their campaign.
Antigua and Barbuda had started the series in impressive fashion, opening with a commanding 63-17 victory over Anguilla, followed by a solid 53-14 win against Montserrat. They continued their dominant form with a convincing 60-10 triumph over Guyana, showcasing the squad’s depth and skill across all three matches before tonight’s setback.
The 10-team competition includes all seven ECCB member countries – Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, the Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines – plus three invited teams: Barbados, the Cayman Islands, and Guyana.

Credit where it’s due, Saint Lucia played smart, disciplined netball. They earned that win and showed they’re real contenders.
One defeat doesn’t erase three blowout victories. Antigua and Barbuda are still one of the best teams in this tournament – it’s how they bounce back that matters.
Ouchhhh better luck next time
Tough game, girls! Keep your heads up Antigua and Barbuda still have a lot to be proud of. On to the next one!
