Amerijet Cargo Operations Temporarily Disrupted at VC Bird Airport

28 August 2025 - 10:28

Cargo operations for Amerijet at VC Bird International Airport have been temporarily disrupted due to mechanical issues with essential ground-handling equipment.

The airline’s private ground handler reported that its main Deck Loader, a key machine for safely unloading cargo, required a replacement part, which delayed scheduled shipments.

The part is expected to arrive today, allowing the equipment to return to full service and cargo operations to resume.

The Antigua and Barbuda Airport Authority (ABAA) said Amerijet plays a crucial role in supporting both commercial and public cargo needs and thanked the community for its patience during the brief interruption.

ABAA confirmed it is working closely with all stakeholders to ensure a smooth and rapid restoration of services.

  7. Shouldn’t spare parts be on hand at all times for this offloading dock?? Isn’t this equipment categorized as a critical pieces of equipment?? Always keep a par level stock count. It wasn’t just the other day this same offloading dock had mechanical issues?? This offloading dock needs an overhaul but before doing so temporary backup needed.
