Antigua and Barbuda has taken its tourism message directly to the streets of Barbados with the launch of a striking “Be Here” branded bus that showcases the twin-island nation’s culture, beaches, and cuisine.

The full-bus wrap, unveiled by the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority (ABTA), features vibrant images of Antigua Carnival, the islands’ 365 beaches, and the warmth of the people, all underscored by the bold invitation: Be Here.

The bus runs daily along Highway 1, one of Barbados’ busiest routes, stretching from Speightstown on the north coast through the bustling West Coast tourist belt and into Bridgetown. The corridor sees heavy pedestrian and vehicular traffic, making it prime ground for capturing attention.

“We’re thrilled to bring the essence of Antigua and Barbuda to the streets of Barbados,” said Charmaine Spencer, ABTA’s Director of Tourism for the Caribbean and Latin America. “This campaign is about more than stunning scenery, it’s about keeping Antigua and Barbuda top-of-mind and extending a heartfelt invitation to experience our vibrant festivals, savour our cuisine, and share in the warmth of our people.”

The campaign was also woven into Antigua and Barbuda’s presence at the Caribbean Festival of Arts (CARIFESTA) in Barbados. During the country’s showcase on August 27, performers, including newly crowned Carnival Queen Kia Kirwan, made a dramatic arrival aboard the branded bus before disembarking in full costume to the delight of onlookers.

At CARIFESTA, the ABTA booth offered product samples, media engagement, and a competition for a chance to win airline tickets to Antigua, courtesy of LIAT. The delegation promoted a packed calendar of events, including Antigua Sailing Week, Culinary Month, Carnival, and the recently introduced Antigua and Barbuda Art Week.

Officials say the campaign is aimed at strengthening regional tourism ties, with Barbados seen as a key market given its strong travel interest and easy flight connections.

The “Be Here” bus campaign, which began in June, will continue running in Barbados until November.
