UPP Caretaker for St. John’s City South, Franz DeFreitas
Popular radio talk show host and United Progressive Party (UPP) politician Franz DeFreitas has reportedly been dismissed from Observer Media.
DeFreitas was one of the main voices on the widely listened to Voice of the People program, where he co-hosted alongside broadcaster Paul Quinn. Quinn has been off the air for several months due to a serious illness and is not expected to return to his post.
The circumstances surrounding DeFreitas’ reported departure from the station remain unclear, as Observer Media has not yet issued a public statement on the matter. However, his absence from recent broadcasts has already sparked speculation among listeners and political supporters.
DeFreitas, a member of the UPP who contested the last general elections, has been known for his fiery commentary on national issues and his outspoken criticism of the government.
His removal is expected to stir public debate, given his prominence both in media and in politics.

Good riddance to bad rubbish!
OK Labourite. Laughing stock you people are. So blinded by red. Hope your grandchildren are ready for the turmoil you are placing on them by taking away their freedoms and resources. Dunce bats!
But how it come a labourite issue smh head wen he is a upper candidate working on radio station owned an run by upp palrep an true supporter.
Franz is one of the few who speaks truth to power. Observer will lose a lot of listeners if this is true.
He was not an asset to Observer. It’s about time they clean house. Franz? Go find a real job!

I just love Antigua and this news portal. I can’t stop laughing.
Could be a contractual issue, not necessarily politics. We’ll see
The new girl Sharon is doing an awesome job in his absence so until it’s sorted, let’s support her and keep the faith!
Voice of the People show has been extremely BORING for a while now. It was about time management made some changes. Franz did nothing to improve the show, and he was very uninformed about the history to Antigua.

What prominence? Chups
The program needs a revamping like everything else at Observer Media.
Franz IS a national disgrace! Both himself and his former co-host figured wrongly that they could ride the coat tails of their parents’ contribution to education in Antigua and Barbuda. NOT!!!
Franz, in particular, brought nothing of value to national discourse of substantive importance. His removal shows that Observer Radio is serious about cleaning house. Franz, I hope, is GRATEFUL for his time with them. Hope he doesn’t go crazy!
No more noise on radio. Mr always upset me. Screaming and causing a scene where there shouldnt be. LOL. I dont see this as news. Buttttttttttttttt
Leave Franz alone. I love him and the way he always handled the show well. Observer continue to lose important people. Look at how many of their staff left. Elesha George, Theresa, Myrtle and the short girl Samantha done lefff. The workers arent the issue. The people that run the company gone mad
Every one leaving 2 went to abs I wonder why
This look like the people behind the observer radio are hypnotized by the one percenters,
Now that Lovell has return they seeking to weaken the opposition momentum to ensure Gaston stay in power, there is a state capture, from police to judiciary and politicians and civil servant by the Caucasian 1 percenters class.
They are irritated by Franz and observer management is anxious for the largesse they would get from the 1 percenters.
How is this lady an accomplished journalist when there is really no story behind this headline?
Let’s be real, Franz was too biased. Observer probably had enough of the constant political rants.
