The Antigua and Barbuda Athletics Association (ABAA) has announced that national 200m champion Darion Skerritt will represent Antigua and Barbuda at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
Skerritt, who boasts a personal best of 20.67 seconds, earned selection through the Universality entry after the country’s lone qualifier, Joella Lloyd, withdrew due to injury. This marks a significant milestone in Skerritt’s athletic career as he prepares to compete on the global stage.
He will be accompanied by Coach Jamille Nelson, who will also serve as the country’s delegate to the 55th World Athletics Congress, along with ABAA President Everton Cornelius. The team is scheduled to depart Antigua on September 7.
The ABAA expressed its full support and encouragement for Skerritt.
Fans and supporters are encouraged to follow Skerritt’s progress as he takes on the world’s top sprinters in Tokyo.

Dont put too much pressure on yourself. Just go out there and do your best
Best of luck, Darion! No matter the outcome, you’re already a champion.
