Antigua and Barbuda is spearheading efforts to create a unified citizenship-by-investment framework across the Eastern Caribbean. This move could reshape how wealthy foreigners gain residency in the region.

The proposed reforms aim to standardize rules, strengthen credibility, and ensure the region remains attractive to international investors.

Shermain Bique-Charles sat down with Nuri Katz, one of the leading CIP experts in the region.

  2. Oh, boy. So what happens to Jolly Beach and the recent Social Security investment if CIP ends? And to the second possible solution….Will locals be able to afford to purchase property here if all these rich people come in and increase the cost of living by buying up all the land and properties?

  5. Im never in agreement of people selling our passports for wealthy people. Usually when these rich people look for other citizenship it’s not because they really want but they are hiding from something or about to pull a Mehul Choksi on someone. We have to be careful *

    • That Georgio Armani dude who died the other day had a house in Anrigua and Barbuda but me never had cita8enshop. He never bought any passport. So if wealthy people wanna invest they can without bying passports. Whats my point? We dont need to sell citizenship to people to invest. Period!!!

  7. If Antigua and Barbuda succeeds in bringing the region under one CIP framework, it could strengthen bargaining power internationally. But will smaller states feel they’re losing autonomy in exchange for unity

    • Gaston under the aegis of Antigua should not be allowed to head any thing on passport, ray John case is judicial manipulation that he case can’t call, but scum bags and criminals find a way to get together.

  8. With Europe and the U.S. increasingly critical of golden passport schemes, a unified framework could be the region’s best defense. But is this reform proactive enough, or just a reaction to pressure from bigger powers

  10. The wealthy foreigners get access, the governments get cash but do ordinary citizens see real improvements in healthcare, education, or infrastructure as a result of these programs?

  11. We cannot depend on agriculture because we have no water. We only have CIP and tourism. We better do what we must to save this

  12. CIP revenues are vital for many islands, especially post-pandemic. Yet, is the region becoming too dependent on selling citizenship, and what happens if demand dries up?
