A devastating fire on Wednesday afternoon has left an elderly St. John’s resident without a home. The single-residence wooden house on North Street was completely consumed by flames around noon.

Firefighters arrived on the scene within six minutes, but despite their rapid response, the structure could not be saved and was reduced to ashes.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
