Police Hunt Suspect After Gray’s Hill Attack

Police are on the hunt for a man known as “Benji” following a violent assault on a 73-year-old Gray’s Hill resident early Wednesday morning.

According to reports, Bernard Benjamin was sitting in his living room around 7 a.m. on September 10 when the attacker forced open his front door and struck him in the head with a glass bottle.

The elderly man sustained a bleeding wound to his forehead and was rushed to hospital by EMS for treatment.

Police say the alleged assailant, believed to be from the same community, fled the scene before officers arrived. Despite a search of the area, he has not yet been apprehended.

The incident was reported to the Gray’s Farm Police Station by someone who witnessed the aftermath of the attack. Senior officers have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and are appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the suspect’s capture.

    • I don’t see names . So they came to their senses and removed it. But the attack on the elderly is becoming very frightening

  5. The public should be deeply concerned. Crime against older people isn’t just an attack on one person…honestly …For real…..it’s an attack on the dignity and security of an entire community. Authorities must send a clear message that this kind of violence will not be tolerated

    • This guy has been in and out of jail several times and police refuse to hold this man in jail.
Many years ago he killed someone over a bicycle, got deported to antigua.
He went to jail, came out 😒.
A few years ago he tried to rob a store with a toy gun. Went to jail came out again 😒.
He has been constantly giving people in the community death threats yet he’s still on the loose and now he did this and went into hiding.

We really need a better system for repeat offenders.

The police really cannot on their own keep a person in jail.

If the investigation ends up in a conviction, the rest is up to the court

  6. Crime has no boundaries anymore. If they can break into a 73-year-old man’s home at 7 in the morning, none of us are safe. The government and police need to do more, and the community must also step up to protect our elders

  7. This is a worrying trend…older people are increasingly becoming easy targets for criminals, and it really shows the need for stronger community policing and better protection for the most vulnerable. If attackers are bold enough to break into an elderly man’s home in broad daylight, what’s next?

  9. Never ever good to real or to see dem old people targeted in such a violent way. Seniors are supposed to feel safe in their own homes, not have to live in fear of being attacked. At 73, Mr. Benjamin should be enjoying peace and comfort, not ending up in the hospital because someone broke in and assaulted him

  10. Prayers for Mr. Benjamin’s recovery. Shame on anyone who thinks it’s okay to attack an elderly man. We cannot keep turning a blind eye….this could have been any of our fathers or grandfathers
