The Antigua and Barbuda Workers’ Union (ABWU) has tapped Paula C. M. Lee, one of the region’s most respected voices in leadership and communications, to deliver the feature address at the opening of its 58th Annual Delegates Conference.

This year’s conference, which unfolds under the theme “Technology and Solidarity: Navigating the New Workplace,” comes at a time when unions worldwide are grappling with rapid shifts in technology and the future of work.

Lee, Managing Director of PCM Lee Communications and Consulting, is widely known as the Executive Producer and host of The Paula Show, as well as Executive Director of the Lifelong Learning Unit at The UWI Five Islands Campus. Her career path has been as diverse as it is impactful, ranging from corporate leadership at Cable & Wireless to high-stakes consultancy work, including a successful campaign that saw Sembcorp Water Antigua recover US$8.4 million in debt.

Her expertise has also taken her onto the global stage, serving as an Electoral Commissioner on missions across Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America, and the UK, representing Antigua and Barbuda.

ABWU General Secretary Senator David Massiah said Lee’s background makes her uniquely suited to speak to the challenges and opportunities facing today’s workforce.

“Mrs. Lee’s extensive experience in the corporate world, along with her work in leadership and education, gives her a unique perspective on how technology is reshaping the modern workplace,” Massiah noted. “We are confident her insights will inspire and guide our delegates as we explore how unions and workers can adapt, innovate, and remain united in this era of rapid change.”

The conference will officially open on Sunday, September 21, at the Union’s historic Freedom Hall headquarters.

As ABWU’s highest decision-making forum, the Annual Delegates Conference provides a stage for members to debate, set policy, and define the union’s agenda in advocating for workers across Antigua and Barbuda.
