Thieves Target Multiple Shops in St. John’s, Police Launch Probe

Police are investigating a string of break-ins at shops in the city after several business owners reported losses over the past two days.

Two clothing stores on Market Street were hit sometime between September 15 and 16, with thieves making off with shoes, clothing, and cash. Investigators say both establishments were broken into overnight, but the culprits left no immediate trace.

Over on Popeshead Street, another store owner told police that when she arrived to open her shop around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, she discovered the premises had been ransacked. An undisclosed amount of money, along with blunts, RAW papers, and other items, had been stolen.

Law enforcement officials are appealing to the public for help in tracking down those responsible. They’re urging anyone with information to call the Criminal Investigations Department at 462-3913 or share tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 800-TIPS (8477).
