Woman Sentenced to Two Years for 2021 Gas Station Robbery Attempt

Justice Tunde Bakre handed down a two-year prison sentence this morning to Shadesha Phillip, a Gray’s Farm resident who pleaded guilty to attempting to rob a service station.

The sentencing relates to an incident that took place on June 24, 2021, at the Golden Grove Service Station. Phillip, then in her early twenties, and an accomplice wearing a mask targeted a female pump attendant in the attempted robbery.

Police responded to reports of the crime in progress, leading to an armed confrontation between law enforcement and the suspects. Gunfire was exchanged during the incident, resulting in Phillip being wounded in the leg and subsequently apprehended.

The second suspect managed to escape. Security cameras at the gas station captured the attempted robbery, with the footage later being released to the public the incident.

    I wonder if there were any mitigating circumstances mental health issues, coercion, or poverty that contributed to this. Two years might be just the tip of the story.
