Dog on Runway Forces British Airways to Delay Landing at V.C. Bird

Passengers aboard a British Airways flight from London got more drama than they bargained for today when their aircraft had to delay landing at V.C. Bird International Airport,  thanks to an unexpected intruder: a dog on the runway.

Flight 2157 was minutes from touchdown when air traffic control ordered the pilot to abort the approach after the animal was spotted trotting across the tarmac. The plane circled overhead while ground staff scrambled to coax the four-legged runway crasher out of harm’s way.

“It took a while, but eventually the dog was moved, and the aircraft was cleared to land,” an airport source said. The flight touched down safely on its second attempt, to the relief of both passengers and crew.

For most passengers, the ordeal was little more than a story to tell a delayed landing with a canine twist. As one traveler quipped while disembarking, “You expect turbulence flying across the Atlantic, not a dog holding up your landing.

    • Do hope the dog is ok .the government needs to invest in organization to look after the stray animals . We need to take much better care of these animals not because they cannot talk, but they do feel pain and hunger just like we humans.

      • Antigua’s beauty should extend to how we treat its animals. If every hotel set up a small donation fund for local shelters and sterilization programs, tourists could easily support the cause. Even a little from each visitor would make a huge difference—and show that Antigua cares for all its residents, furry ones included.

    • Need to have some humanity for animals. In my book only uneducated individuals express themselves by using such languages 😅

  12. This is not the first time animals have caused delays at airports worldwide. Maybe Antigua should consider additional measures

  15. I personally feel that they are making ao about nothing.Common sense alone should tell one, that just the mere sound of the aircraft would spook the dog out of the way. Just my opinion.

  17. This really highlights a security and safety concern. A dog today, but what if it were something more dangerous tomorrow
