Family of Chantel Crump Demands Early Release of Second Autopsy Results

The family of nine-year-old Chantel Crump is pressing authorities for answers, saying they cannot wait until November to learn the outcome of the second autopsy conducted on their daughter’s body.

On Monday, Chantel’s parents are expected to meet with Police Commissioner Everton Jeffers to appeal directly for access to the report, which was recently completed by an overseas pathologist.

Chantel’s father, Mr. Crump, told Antigua.news that police contacted him last week to confirm the findings had been returned. However, he and his wife were informed that the results would only be released on November 5, during court proceedings, and that they should attend the hearing to receive the information.

“This family has waited for months for the results,” Mr. Crump said. “Why do I have to wait until November to get the results? We are her parents. We deserve to know what killed our child.”

The first autopsy, conducted locally, was inconclusive, prompting investigators to send tissue samples overseas for further examination.

Chantel was found dead earlier this year under circumstances that shocked the nation. She was abducted while on her way home from school. The Five Islands Primary School student was later discovered lifeless in the bushes of Weatherhills, sparking widespread concern and grief.

A 20-year-old named Angela Mejia, who reportedly took the police to her dead body, has been charged with her murder.

As the Crumps prepare for their meeting with Commissioner Jeffers, they insist that the long wait for answers has compounded their grief. “We have suffered enough,” Mr. Crump said. “We just want the truth.”

  1. So they have the results and telling the parents who have been waiting forever to wait another forever? Come on. They deserve the right to know…these people suffer enough

  2. Never thought I’d ever support the likes of former PM, Dr. Baldwin Spencer, but truth be told, the entire Police Force is in dire need of a purge – from top to bottom! I am sickened and embarrassed by their conduct of unbridled disregard and disrespect for the citizens they swore to serve and protect! Bloody sickening!

  13. What the heck is this BS? You mean to tell me that the police has the results but are trying to make the parents wait a whole nother month in court to get them! The unmittigated gall. The audacity. I bet if their child had died under the circumstances that Chantel has, they would move heaven and earth to find out any and all information expeditiously! You heartless fks! Give the family the results not a month from now; not 3, 2, nor one week from now. Give them the results now and reclaim some of the public trust and respect you have certainly lost. THE FK!!
