Karim Warner
Police Officer Karim Warner was found guilty today of discharging his firearm in a public place, bringing his two-year legal battle to a close.
Warner remains on bail until his sentencing, scheduled for Friday, October 4th.
The charges stem from a December 3, 2022 incident near Emerald Cove Resort in Willikies, where Warner fired 12 rounds at a white Toyota Mark X with two people inside.
The confrontation reportedly erupted when Warner attempted to reclaim a leased vehicle, but the male occupant refused to surrender it.
Warner initially faced charges for discharging a firearm in a public place and assaulting both vehicle occupants. He maintained his innocence, entering not guilty pleas across the board.
The prosecution’s case underwent changes during the proceedings. They dropped the assault charges entirely. The situation became more complicated when the male complainant failed to appear for trial and formally withdrew from the case, stating he no longer wished to participate in the proceedings.
Despite these setbacks, Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel pressed forward with the remaining firearms charge.
Following the prosecution’s presentation, defense attorney Andrew O’Kola mounted a no-case submission, contending that prosecutors had failed to meet the evidentiary threshold required to sustain the charges. O’Kola requested the case be dismissed outright.
Magistrate Emanuel rejected the no-case submission and ruled the trial would proceed. After considering all evidence presented, she delivered the guilty verdict today.

Finally
𝑻𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝒆𝒏𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉, 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝒎𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒗𝒂𝒊𝒍. 𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒆𝒅 𝑮𝒐𝒅 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒔𝒕
The ever famous Martin Luther King Jr. once said in his 1963 “Letter from Birmingham Jail”, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere”.
When those tasked with upholding the law break it, it affects all of us and shakes public trust. Justice has to apply equally to everyone, no exceptions.
Now that one officer is found guilty of a crime, let’s see what happens in the Khaled Simon’s case. Justice vs Injustice
Manny James’s shooter, Khalil’s shooter lock dem up!! Chantel’s abductor and killer hang dem kunt!! Justice ah justice and that we ah preee
They tried so long to get this man out of the mess he was in but in the end, we all serve the final Judge above!! You what’s the sweetest part of it all, the wait for the sentencing. Maybe what 3 months predicted….
Glad to see some justice, police officers think they could do what they wsnt because of a badge
YES!!!! Make an example out of him so the rest can know they can’t do what they want because of six letter and a badge, A Civilian would get the full wrath of the law so lets see what sentencing this so called Corporal of Police will receive
He and his nasty brother Karl Warner may get to do some brotherly bonding At 1735.
oh wow! Carl a he brother? Wat a ting
All I know is if he gets a slap on the wrist it will sink the legal system further down the drain of untrustworthiness. He has to get the same punishment as if I fired 12 shots at a car with my legal gun. HAVE TO!!!!!!
I saw observer had “Police Officer Karim Warner broke down in tears this morning after being found guilty of discharging his firearm in a public place”
My biggest question is, WAH HE A CRY FAH? We live and we learn. Take your punishment and do better going forward. As a police officer you should’ve known better. But then again the force is so corrupt yall know yall get away with all kinds of things
No sarry dey
He may get a fine. I did not follow this case, and will not comment on the substantive matter but simply say to appeal.
A breach of contract is a civil matter but if there was a reasonable fear, the officer was put in fear of harm, then that is another thing.
I do feel bad about this entire situation. But let me see the evidence before I concur or reject.
What evidence again are you talking about?? He did what was wrong, discharging of a firearm in public spaces. He could’ve killed anyone. As a police, he should’ve gotten his team and do a report and go forward his vehicle. But he expected to no be punished cause that’s what they do in the force.
Good to see that Police Officers are held accountable for breaking the very law they should uphold.
So when it comes to Khaleel’s killer and Manny’s killer….. ahhhh, when will they be dealt with like how Mr. Warner is being dealt with?
Waiting with bated bread
In sentencing, the magistrate cannot fine him or sentence him about how she feel about the case. She have to follow the sentencing guideline. Am not sure if he entitled to one third deduction since he didn’t plead guilty. If I lease you my vehicle and when the lease is up you refuse to give me my vehicle, you asking for some serious shit. On the other hand, he shouldn’t take the Law in his own hands. We don’t know what happened on that day. Maybe the driver attack him who knows. That’s why journalist should be in the court at all times to report to the public.
Two years of dragging through the courts and finally a verdict. At least justice is moving, even if it’s slow.
Police officers should be held to a higher standard. If it was a civilian, they would’ve been jailed a long time ago.
Bail until sentencing feels strange though. After being found guilty, shouldn’t he be remanded?
@Rika, is he not remanded to 1735? If he is not, we civilians should be hitting the streets.
…so what about the punishment for the criminals who stole the car?
Now, he get the same feeling as a civilian when he himself take them before a judge or magistrate for breaking the law. It’s the same way civilians shedded tears, too. You break the law and you should be punished just like a civilian.
This is going to be a test. The sentencing will tell us how serious the system really is about gun crimes.
Not one. Not 2 but a whole 12
Firing 12 shots at an occupied vehicle is excessive force; it’s good to see the justice system acting on this.
